WIND TURBINE
“A fire outbreak can catch you offguard when least expected. Your Wind Turbines are highly vulnerable to a fire outbreak.”
CAUSES OF FIRE
- Lightning strike
- Mechanical & Electrical Malfunction
- Maintenance
- Availability of highly flammable materials such as hydraulic oil and lubricants, composite materials, insulation, and polymers
CAUSING
- Business downtime
- Production loss
- Revenue loss
- Infrastructure loss
- Loss of human life
IF, A FIRE IS IGNITED, THEN :
- The only option is to patiently wait for the fire to burn out the nacelle
CHALLENGES
- Turbines today are built at a height of 100 to 120 metre, making firefighting literally impossible
- Remote locations of Wind farms often delays emergency response at site

WEFIRE™ Solution
- Unlike a total room flooding solution, WEFIRE™ system works to protect the critical assets from within. Hence the system is versatile and not bulky & requires very less gas compared to traditional systems
- As per NFPA 850, following components in the nacelle and base tower should be protected with an automatic fire suppression system
- Control Cabinet
- Converter Cabinet
- Hydraulic Station
- Transformer Brake- Capacitor Cabinet
- The WEFIRE™ Heat Detection tube upon detection, ruptures at the hottest point forming a nozzle like opening. This activates the cylinder valves and the clean agent gas discharges through the opening directly onto the fire
- The gas is Non-conducting, non-toxic and leaves no residue; hence does not spoil expensive electronics and mission critical servers inside
